Objectives of general skills

  • Understand the theoretical and methodological fundamentals in psychology, educational sciences and science of language to analyse a particular situation involving speech therapy
    • Identify and explain the concepts, principles, and models of basic theoretical approaches in psychology, educational sciences and language sciences and their applications
  • Develop personally and professionally
    • Develop their scientific curiosity and open-mindedness

UE's Learning outcomes

The students are expected to be able to : name and identify the most prominent facts of education and teaching history, from Antiquity to the end of 19th century, in Western Europe ; understand and interpret these facts by establishing links with social, political, cultural, religious phenomena, e.a. ; highlight recurring questions about education and the diversity of answers given to them according to place and time contingencies ; approach critically a scientific field history and apply new forms of educational phenomena deciphering and understanding. 

UE Content

The educational and pedagogical fields are approached chronologically by stressing how much political, religious, economical, ideological factors (e.a.) are interlocked. From the 1750s omwards, special attention is devoted to the pedagogical history of what was to become Belgium.
