Prérequis

Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Actively master a knowledge base in human, legal and social sciences, essential for analysing problems in management.
    • Understand the implications of different human sciences on the way organisations and markets work.
    • Identify and describe the specific characteristics of management and its relationship to other contributory disciplines
    • Understand extensive problems in certain areas of management.
  • Critically compare knowledge acquired to real situations.
    • Develop and structure reasoning by basing it on suitable scientific arguments

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of the course, the student will be able to master different tools of strategic analysis: PESTEL analysis, SWOT analysis, Porter's forces, business life cycle. Particular attention will be paid to the strategic architecture of companies and the different strategic areas of activity that make it up. Finally, the four classic generic strategies: volume, upward differentiation, downward differentiation and focus will be presented and developed through numerous case studies.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

- Presentation of the FIAT company case;
- Introduction to corporate strategy;
- Presentation of the PESTEL, SWOT and Porter's five forces tools;
- Presentation of Porter's graph and analysis of the life cycle of a company's business;
- Presentation of the different strategic breakdowns of companies;
- Presentation of the four generic strategies that can be envisaged for each strategic business area;
- Case studies.
