Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
Students will be able to:- understand the challenges of general translation and make the necessary research to solve those challenges;- translate general texts in written and with a high degree of precision, in a correct French and in the appropriate style;translate and/or summarize general texts orally, without any mistranslations and at the normal rhythm of speech delivery.
The students will also be able to provide a translation in the foreign language which: - requires little or no revision by a native speaker ; - then render the translation fit for purpose and acceptable on the market.
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
Translation of texts on general subjects and exercises in comparative linguistics. Practical application of learned strategies to produce a natural and true translation in the foreign language. Intensive and careful use of documentation and other linguistic resources meant for native speakers.
Written translation of non-specialized texts of variable length and style, with highlighting of the common translation pitfalls and of the intertextual conventions in the source and target language.Oral translation, exhaustive or summarized, of shorter general texts. Students will also be translating from swedish and/or norwegian into french.
