Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
The objective of this course is to initate the students to Supramolecular Chemistry, the chemistry 'beyond the molecule', dealing with intermolecular interactions and recognition processes.
At the outcome of the course, the student will be able to:
- master the concepts of Supramolecular Chemistry (molecular recognition, self-assembly, cooperativity, macrocycle effect, template effect, etc.)
- identify the different families of supramolecular complexes, in relationship with the intermolecular interactions
- design receptors, host-guest complexes, supramolecular polymers, and chemosensors
- apply supramolecular systems in various domains (sensing, materials, catalysis, health)
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
Part 1 : Concepts in Supramolecular Chemistry. General concepts ; supramolecular interactions ; Molecular recognition and selectivity. Part 2 : Families of Supramolecular Assemblies. Cation-binding hosts; Anion-binding hosts Molecular receptors Self-assemblies. Part 3: Supramolecular design and engineering. Sensors and Devices; Supramolecular polymer materials; Supramolecular systems in biomedical sciences; Supramolecular Catalysis.
