Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
At the end of this course, the student will understand how the different sub-systems of the brain work (motricity, vision, pain, language, memory, sleep and dreams, etc).
At the end of this course, the student will be able to understand how many pharmacological drugs act on the brain. The student will be able to easily understand the basic mechanisms of the main brain diseases.
At the end of this course, the student will understand how it is possible to study phenomena as "psychological" and complex as memory not only in intact, alert rats, but also on brain slices (0.5 mm width) maintained alive artificially or even on Aplysia neurons in culture.
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
The EU is made up of three AAs:
M-NEUR-202 - theoretical part 1: 16h
M-NEUR-204 - theoretical part 2: 10h
The two theoretical parts form a coherent whole which makes it possible to approach the sensory, motor and cognitive functions M-NEUR-206 - part 3: 4h + 10h : theoretical part on memory and associated practical work. This last part is specific for students in biology and biomedical sciences because it allows them to approach the research aspect in the field of neurophysiology.
Prior Experience
M-NEUR-201 : notions of physiology : neuronal cells
Type(s) and mode(s) of Q1 UE assessment
Q1 UE Assessment Comments
The exam is a global test. The questions cover all the course material
Pratical works are evaluated on the base of written reports
Method of calculating the overall mark for the Q1 UE assessment
The exam mark counts for 90% of the final mark. The evaluation of the practical work reports counts for 10% of the final grade
Type(s) and mode(s) of Q1 UE resit assessment (BAB1)
Q1 UE Resit Assessment Comments (BAB1)
Not applicable
Method of calculating the overall mark for the Q1 UE resit assessment
NA
Q2 UE Assessment Comments
Written exam : 95 % of the final note Reports of practical work : 5% of the final note
Type(s) and mode(s) of Q3 UE assessment
Q3 UE Assessment Comments
The methods are identical to the evaluation of Q1 with the exception of practical work which is no longer evaluated.
Method of calculating the overall mark for the Q3 UE assessment
The exam score is the final score.
