UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
theoritical and practical notions of Metabolism
General relationships organism-environment
Catabolism and anabolism : definitions
Flow of matter and energy. Basic thermodynamics.
Introduction to regulation.
Polysaccharides metabolism. The central pathways of energy metabolism .
Lipid metabolism : fatty acids.

Type(s) and mode(s) of Q1 UE assessment
Q1 UE Assessment Comments
The weighting between the AAs of Q1 and Q2 is 50/50 (grades of the continuous assessments, see corresponding AA). A minimum of 8/20 must be obtained in each AA, otherwise the lowest AA grade is used for the final grade of the UE. In the event of failure, it will not be possible to carry over an AA grade from one year to the next.
Method of calculating the overall mark for the Q1 UE assessment
