Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the fundamentals
    • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of mathematics suitable for the study of physics, and be able to use this mathematics in applications in the field of physics
    • Undertake further study having already acquired and enhanced the necessary learning skills

Learning Outcomes of UE

Elementary linear algebra mastery in view of applications, acquaintance with mathematical formalism.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

Vector spaces, linear maps, dimension, matrix representations.

Prior Experience

"Mathématiques élémentaires" course.

Type(s) and mode(s) of Q1 UE assessment

  • Graded assignment(s) - Face-to-face

Q1 UE Assessment Comments

The January test weights 25% of the continuous evaluation grade.
The final grade for the "UE" is the maximum of the June examination grade and the continuous evaluation grade.

Type(s) and mode(s) of Q2 UE assessment

  • Written examination - Face-to-face
  • Graded assignment(s) - Face-to-face

Q2 UE Assessment Comments

The March test  weights 25% of the continuous evaluation grade.
The June examination weights 50% of the continuous evaluation grade.
The final grade for the "UE" is the maximum of the June examination grade and the continuous evaluation grade.

Method of calculating the overall mark for the Q2 UE assessment

Final grade = Max(E,(J+M+2E)/4)
where: J=January test, M=March test, E=June examination.

Type(s) and mode(s) of Q3 UE assessment

  • Written examination - Face-to-face

Q3 UE Assessment Comments

The final grade is the Q3 assessment one.
