Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
design all types of air conditionning systems and heating devices; evaluate the annual energy balance of a particular equipment (building); evaluate air processing carried out in an air-handling unit and in a local; Apprehend simultaneous heat and mass transfer problems and applications; Design direct and indirect contact heat exchangers with simultaneous heat and mass transfer; Analyse and design systems liquid-vapour two-phase flow and heat transfer.
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
The UE "Air conditioning and special exchangers" includes two AA's: I-TRMI-013 Air conditioning and I-TRMI-014 Special heat exchangers. These specific courses, being part of the Mechanical Engineering - Option Energy Engineering program, allow the students to apprehend progressively complete thermal systems (e.g., an air conditioning plant - AA Air conditioning) or more complex ones (e.g., cooling towers with simultaneous heat and mass transfer - AA Special heat exchangers). The notions seen in the AA Special Exchangers are linked with the content of the AA Air Conditioning, since simultaneous heat and mass transfer are to be considered to understand/size/control the transformations of humid air in an HVAC system.

Q2 UE Assessment Comments
The two AAs that make up the EU are assessed orally and these assessments take place on the same half-day.
Each oral examination (1/2 hour) is preceded by a written preparation (about 1 hour).
Method of calculating the overall mark for the Q2 UE assessment
The EU's overall score is distributed as follows: - 60% for the " HVAC (heating ventilating and air conditioning) " AA - 40% for the " Special heat exchangers " AA . For the AA "HVAC" the mark corresponds to an oral examination (75% of the mark) and laboratory works (25% of the mark). For the AA "Special heat exchangers", the mark corresponds to an oral examination (80% of the mark) and the reports on laboratory work (20% of the mark).
If the score of one AA is lower than 7/20, the EU's overall score corresponds to the smallest score of both AA.

The two oral examinations are held on the same half-day.
