Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Implement an engineering approach dealing with a set problem taking into account technical, economic and environmental constraints
    • Understand the stages of an engineering approach
    • Identify and describe the problem to be solved and the functional need (of prospective clients) to be met considering the state of technology
  • Understand the theoretical and methodological fundamentals in science and engineering to solve problems involving these disciplines
    • Identify, describe and explain basic scientific and mathematical principles
    • Identify, describe and explain the basic principles of engineering particularly in their specialising field
    • Understand laboratory techniques: testing, measuring, monitoring protocol, and security
    • Select and rigorously apply knowledge, tools and methods in sciences and engineering to solve problems involving these disciplines

Learning Outcomes of UE

Electromagnetism: understand Maxwell equations and be able to apply them to electrostatics, magnetostatics and time-varying circuits;
apply the different theorems and Maxwell equations to the resolution of everyday problems in electricity encountered during the engineer's career.
Signals, systems and Process Control: Understand the theoretical and methodological fundamentals in signal processing. Understand the theoretical and methodological fundamentals in system dynamics. Describe and analyze the time behavior of a process described by its transfert function. Understand the fundamentals in process control.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

Electromagnetism: summary of Maxwell equations; field calculation in conductors and in insulating media; electric currents; field calculation of a system of currents and magnets; force calculation; general laws of steady current circuits; quasi-static and sinusoidal current circuits.
Signals, systems and Process Control: Signal and signal convolution; Laplace/Fourier transform : physical approach; Time and frequency analysis of LTI (linear time invariant) SISO (single input - single output) system ; Open and closed-loop behavior analysis : stability, static and dynamic performance; basic rules for controller design.
