    Content of Learning Activity

The geomechanics project proposes to work on an original case study on a dedicated site: rock slope stability, underground work (tunnel), evolution of an open pit quarry to an underground quarry, etc. There are multiple objectives: stating correctly the problem by identifying pertinent elements (developing analytical turn of mind), integrating the problem in a specific context (geological framework, rocks and rock masses), and proposing a constitutive law for the studied rock.

Work in collaboration with professionnals, site visits, flipped and multidisciplinary pedagogy

quarry site; observation of structural and geological characteristics of the rock mass; drawings; sampling of the targeted zone; preparation of specimens; petrographic description; physical (porosity, density, permeability) and mechanical (various test types both in atmospheric and under confinement conditions) characterisation; specific topic related to the studied material; uploading of the results in the data base of the laboratory; redaction of a report.
