Content of Learning Activity
The course deploys three traditions of thought: positivist, interpretive and pragmatist. These three currents, which can be summarily linked to the French, German and American social science traditions, deploy different methods and objectives. They do social science according to different and sometimes opposing conceptions of truth, objectivity and utility. The course explores these modalities from the founding fathers to contemporary applications. The aim is to grasp the contested, political and ethical character of epistemology.
