Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
    • Use French perfectly in a variety of non-technical situations, both orally and in writing
    • Understand, reformulate and summarise documents and presentations, in French, on various topics written by experts, including those related to current affairs
  • Understand and integrate cultural similarities and differences (cultural and intercultural skills)
    • Develop knowledge in various fields, in particular those aimed at by translation activities
  • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
    • Carry out, alone or in groups, activities or projects involving critical analysis
    • Communicate results or conclusions of these activities or projects in an appropriate manner
  • Conduct relevant research and report on it in a critical manner (cognitive skills)
    • Conduct targeted and reasoned documentary research in both the core language and the foreign languages studied
    • Assess the relevance and reliability of documentary sources used
    • Give a critique of the studied literature

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this course, after reading theoretical texts and accounts by readers or translators, students will be able to identify,depending on translators, specialists in translation and the time they live in, (1) who the translators actually are; (2) what kind of difficulties or problems they faced, (3) what methods, principles, types of translation (written and oral) and evaluations they practiced over time. 
Students will also be able to compare different theories of translation, illustrated in their historical, practical, human and philosophical aspects, and put into practice somme of thse concepts, in preparation for a translation research (TFE).
-to apply theories to concrete cases to analyze, to carry out documentary research on these subjects and present the results.
