Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
At the end of this programme component, students will be able to : - bring out the logical structure of a general text, written in the foreign language; - render the meaning of this text in a correct French; - advisedly use dictionaries and reference documents. They will be able to provide a translation in the foreign language which: - requires little or no revision by a native speaker ; - then render the translation fit for purpose and acceptable on the market.
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
Introduction to the basic translation principles and technologies. Introduction to the translation of informative and pragmatic texts. Translation of texts on general subjects and exercises in comparative linguistics. Practical application of learned strategies to produce a natural and true translation in the foreign language. Intensive and careful use of documentation and other linguistic resources meant for native speakers.
