Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
At the end of the first year of the master's in translation, students should be able to:
- provide a true and accurate translation of a French language text written in grammatically correct and appropriate (neutral or formal) English;
- apply appropriate revision, avoidance and communication strategies.
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
-Practical French-to-English translation exercises based on general texts, requiring critical use of documentation available for informational and linguistic purposes.
-Exercises in comparative linguistics with special focus on linguistic issues that commonly cause problems in FR-EN translation.
Prior Experience
The students will already have been initiated to the practice of translation from the foreign language (English) into their mother tongue, and must have a strong command (C1+) of the target language (English).

Results obtained during the term may, if the student achieves a sufficiently high average, permit the student to opt out of the examination set during the January session. Practical written translation examination during the January session. All term assignments are compulsory. The final result will be prorated on the basis of any missing assignments to reflect the student's real investment in the course. |
