• Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
• Communicate easily and adequately, in both selected foreign languages, at a minimum level of B2 in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
• Understand and integrate cultural similarities and differences (cultural and intercultural skills)
• Identify cultural differences and talk about them
• Be familiar with codes and conventions of other cultures for the sake of interpersonal relationships
• Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
• Use printed or electronic dictionaries and reference materials appropriately

Learning Outcomes of UE

Upon completion of the language courses of the third module, students will have a good command of Chinese at the B2 level of theCommon European Framework of Reference for Languages. Students will be able to:
- understand texts in which the writers adopt particular stances or viewpoints as well as contemporary fiction works;
- follow complex lines of argument provided the topic is reasonably familiar; understand current affairs programmes and films in standard dialect;
- interact with native speakers;
- produce clear, detailed texts on a wide range of familiar subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue. 

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

Critical analysis of genuine audio-visual documents and varied texts.
Oral and written exercises.
Emphasis on interaction with native speakers and on intercultural skills (preparation for linguistic immersion during the 2nd term).
