Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
- Imagine, design, implement and operate compounds, products and materials to specific properties and physical, chemical and biochemical solutions/processes leading to obtaining these materials by integrating needs, contexts and issues (technical, economic, societal, ethical, safety and environmental).
- Identify complex problems to be solved and formulate the specifications by integrating client needs, contexts and issues (technical, economic, societal, ethical and environmental).
- Implement a chosen solution/product in the form of a drawing, a schema, a plan, a model, a prototype, software and/or digital model.
- Evaluate the approach and results for their adaptation (optimisation, quality, environment, safety/security).
- Mobilise a structured set of scientific knowledge and skills and specialised techniques in order to carry out missions of chemical engineering and materials science, using their expertise and adaptability.
- Master and appropriately apply knowledge, models, methods and techniques specific to the field of chemistry and materials science.
- Communicate and exchange information in a structured way - orally, graphically and in writing, in French and in one or more other languages - scientifically, culturally, technically and interpersonally, by adapting to the intended purpose and the relevant public.
- Argue to and persuade customers, teachers and a board, both orally and in writing
- Adopt a professional and responsible approach, showing an open and critical mind in an independent professional development process.
- Analyse their personal functioning and adapt their professional attitudes.
- Show an open and critical mind by bringing to light technical and non-technical issues of analysed problems and proposed solutions.
- Exploit the different means available in order to inform and train independently.

- Implement a product/solution chosen as a drawing of a diagram of a plan, a model, a prototype, software and/or digital model.
- Mobilise a structured set of scientific knowledge and skills and specialised techniques in order to carry out missions of chemical engineering and materials science, with a focus on materials science and engineering, using their expertise and adaptability.
- Master and appropriately apply knowledge, models, methods and techniques relating to physics, chemistry and mechanics of materials to the development, implementation, environmentally-friendly use of materials, and the behaviour of materials in a given context to a rational approach of material selection and innovation.
- Analyse and model a problem by critically selecting theories and methodological approaches (modelling, calculations), and taking into account multidisciplinary aspects.
- Identify and discuss possible applications of new and emerging technologies in the field of science and engineering of materials.
- Assess the relevance of models and results given the current state of science and characteristics of the problem.

Learning Outcomes of UE
Examine a product and determine how it has been manufactured;
Select an appropriate manufacturing process;
Take into account manufacturing constraints (cost, quality, schedule) when designing a product; understand the role of materials in Manufacturing processes and the effect of processes on the mechanical properties of manufactured parts;
Understand the importance of manufacturing.
Know the specifics of plastics and thermoset composites.
Select an appropriate manufacturing process for plastics or composites according to specifications.
Analyze the advantages and disadvantages associated with additive manufacturing.
Understand the role of materials in manufacturing processes and the effect of processes on the mechanical properties of manufactured parts.
The course gives an overview of manufacturing processes of mechanical products in metals, plastics and composite, as well as additive manufacturing, and introduces the language of manufacturing.
The course is given by academics who conduct research in the field of manufacturing technology and, in the same time, maintain close links with industrial companies, providing education to the forefront of technological and industrial requirements.
