      Content of Learning Activity

The part concerning magnetism includes a classical and quantum approach of the origin of magnetism in matter. Then the different magnetic behaviors (paramagnetism, ferromagnetism...) are explained and described. Some applications are also given.
The nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) part aims, after the introduction of the necessary basics, at describing the two main applications of NMR, namely spectroscopy and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
A short introduction to positon emission tomography, X-ray tomography and scintigraphy will also be given.
