This AA is composed of six parts: I/ Introduction II/ Basics of Bacteriology: definition, bacterial structure and metabolism, bacterial genetics III/ Basics of Virology: definition, viral structure and replication, genetics IV/ Host-pathogen relationship: definition, basics of immunology, host's defenses, resistance against host's defenses, infection cycle V/ Microbiological diagnosis: quality and biosecurity, basics of bacteriology, virology, serology and molecular biology analyses VI/ Introduction to infection control and treatment
