      Content of Learning Activity

      Notion of materials : Definition, history, classification ; Behaviour and properties ; General properties of the differents categories of materials. 
      Study of the life cycle of materials (Analysis of the life cycle of materials and sustainable development, Availability of mineral resources, Materials development processes, Recycling and notion of secondary raw material.
      Study of material selection (Role of materials in design, Design procedure, Selection strategy, Cases of studies).
      Structure of materials : the crystalline solids ; the amorphous and semi-crystalline solids.
