    Content of Learning Activity

    The organic chemistry course is organised in parts covering the following aspects:
    - basic concepts (bond-isometrics, polarity-solubility, acids and bases);
    - molecular spectroscopic features (IR and UV-vis),
    - the application of these instrumental analytical techniques for the identification of functions and polymers (IR);
    - systematic study of the chemical classes and their reactivity on the basis of the presence of unsaturated bonds, aromatic rings, and functions.
    The properties of organic solvents are exposed.
    The reaction mechanisms and molecular structures of several classes of compounds including the principles of stereoisomerism are discussed: Alkanes and cycloalkanes, alkenes and alkynes and aromatic compounds.
    Particular attention is paid to the mechanisms of substitution, addition, elimination and rearrangement.
    Vinyl polymers are designed especially for their various applications, synthetic routes and production properties and economic interests, and are compared to other families of polymers. Characterisation methods of these polymers are also addressed.
