Content of Learning Activity
In this course, students will learn how to design and construct a building, using the theoretical and philosophical principles of heritage conservation, as well as preliminary studies of the context and the building itself (analysis of the site, architectural analysis, consideration of the existing structure, construction techniques and thermal characteristics of the envelopes), in a reasoned and creative manner. The student also motivates his or her intentions by establishing the connection between his or her project and the case analyses presented in the course on interventions in existing buildings. The learning process is based on a multi-scale approach to the project, including the creation of constructive details of contemporary elements or junctions with the existing building, as well as the provision of architectural and technical solutions from the point of view of ethics, stability and the thermal characteristics of the building.
