Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcomes of UE

This business law course will acquaint students with legal terms and concepts revolving around businesses. Students will get accustomed to the concept of merchant, business development formalities, different commercial corporations provided by Belgian law, contracts businesses may have to subscribe to and actions they may have to take during their lifetime. The course will also introduce students to insolvency proceedings businesses are likely to cope with. The course offers a theoretical and practical approach to the studied themes.

Content of UE

This course is intended for non-lawyers. The key chapters of the course are therefore: - business and its legal meaning: the concept of merchant; - specific rules applying to merchants: jurisdiction of commercial courts; specific forms of proofs; bankruptcy ; - commercial corporations; - principle of freedom of trade, competition law, trade practices; - insolvency; - main business contracts.
