Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Acquire, understand and use knowledge in the fields of biology and other fields
    • Demonstrate an understanding of the general principles of life to understand questions and solve situations related to biology
    • Integrate knowledge from other fields of knowledge with biology (earth science, physics, chemistry, mathematics), in a critical way, to foster an interdisciplinary approach
  • Apply a scientific approach and critical thinking
    • Present a hypothesis and hypothetical-deductive reasoning
    • Manage doubt and uncertainty
  • Develop autonomy, set training objectives and make choices to achieve them
    • Manage stress regardless of events (exams, presentations, etc.)

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this course, the student will understand how the different sub-systems of the brain work (motricity, vision, pain, language, memory, sleep and dreams, etc).

At the end of this course, the student will be able to understand how many pharmacological drugs act on the brain. The student will be able to easily understand the basic mechanisms of the main brain diseases.

At the end of this course, the student will understand how it is possible to study phenomena as "psychological" and complex as memory not only in intact, alert rats, but also on brain slices (0.5 mm width) maintained alive artificially or even on Aplysia neurons in culture.
