Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the fundamentals
    • Understand the key areas of chemistry: inorganic, organic, physical, biological and analytical chemistry, as well as basic knowledge required in mathematics, biology and physics
    • Have developed the learning skills needed to undertake further studies with a sufficient degree of autonomy

Learning Outcomes of UE

Understanding the behavior of matter by a macroscopic approach. Apply the basic principles of thermodynamics to systems with multiple chemical species. Deeply understand the vapor-liquid equilibria in the ideal case. Understand the equilibrium phase diagrams for two-phase systems in which one phase is a pure component and the other a mixture. Model the simplest possible systems with a non-ideality. Apply the basic principles in a multiple component system with a chemical reaction between the components.

Content of UE

Part 1.Introduction (temperature, heat, kinetic theory of gases, equation of state) Principle (energy conservation, expansion of gases, process adiabatiaques) Second principle (Carnot engine, entropy, heat) thermodynamic potentials (Euler equation , Gibbs-Duhem relationship, development criteria) gas Liquefaction (Free Expansion Joule-Gay Lussac, Joule-Thomson effect) Balance and stability (stability criteria, phase diagram, phase transition)Part 2.Description of a multiple component systemIdeal vapor-liquid equilibriumWith a pure phase equilibriaThermodynamics and chemical reactionsnon-ideal systemsGeneral knowledge of information and communications technology.
