Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Mobilise a structured set of scientific knowledge and skills and specialised techniques in order to carry out missions of chemical engineering and materials science, with a focus on materials science and engineering, using their expertise and adaptability.
    • Master and appropriately apply knowledge, models, methods and techniques relating to physics, chemistry and mechanics of materials to the development, implementation, environmentally-friendly use of materials, and the behaviour of materials in a given context to a rational approach of material selection and innovation.
    • Analyse and model a problem by critically selecting theories and methodological approaches (modelling, calculations), and taking into account multidisciplinary aspects.

Learning Outcomes of UE

To master the basic knowledge of the analytical treatment of fracture mechanisms. To master the basic knowledge relative to the techniques of non-destructive testing most usually met in industrial environment.

Content of UE

Mechanical and energetic treatment of fragile and ductile fracture ; fragile materials; ductile materials in local plasticity ; ductile materials in generalized plasticity ; time and environment depending fracture mechanisms ; creep and stress relaxation ; mechanical fatigue ; slow crack propagation. Bases of Physic required for good understanding of the NDT techniques (ultrasonoscopy, acoustic emission, radiography / tomography X, Eddy currents...); instrumentation, fields of application; new developments.

Prior Experience

basic in materials mechanic
