Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Imagine, design, optimise, carry out and implement projects and solutions to address a complex problem by integrating needs, contexts and issues (technical, economic, societal, ethical and environmental).
    • Identify complex problems to be solved and formulate the specifications by integrating client needs, contexts and issues (technical, economic, societal, ethical and environmental).
    • On the basis of modelling, design one or more projects and solutions addressing the problem raised; evaluate them in light of various parameters of the specifications.
    • Implement a chosen solution in the form of a drawing, a schema, a plan, a model, a prototype, software and/or digital model
  • Mobilise a structured set of artistic and scientific knowledge and skills and specialised techniques in order to carry out architectural missions using their expertise and adaptability.
    • Master and appropriately mobilise knowledge, models, methods and techniques specific to the architectural engineering.
    • Conduct a critical and contextualised analysis of requests to establish the choice of a guiding concept (artistic, technical, societal, etc.).
    • Model a project or solutions by selecting theories and methodological approaches (modelling, calculations) and relevant techniques while taking into account multidisciplinary aspects.
    • Assess the relevance of models and results in view of the current state of knowledge and construction and the characteristics of the problem.

Learning Outcomes of UE

master all the thermal notions related to the heating or cooling systems sizing; apply the EPB calculation method to characterize the energetic performance of buildings; apprehend the consequences of the architectural choices on the energetic performances of buildings; develop adequate wall compositions to prevent condensation problems and thermal bridges.

Content of UE

thermodynamic properties of moist air; buildings hygrothermics; heat gains in buildings (summer comfort); ventilation and airtightness; energetic performance of buildings and EPB method; heat emission of radiators and heating panels; cooling with ventilation and convection (summer comfort)

Prior Experience

notions of thermodynamics; notions of thermal engineering; global heat transfer coefficient; heat losses of a building
