Programme component

Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Communicate in a structured way - both orally and in writing, in French and English - giving clear, accurate, reasoned information
    • Give an effective oral presentation, using presentation materials appropriately
    • Use the English language to "advanced independent user" level, equivalent to B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
  • Demonstrate thoroughness and independence throughout their studies
    • Demonstrate self-awareness, asses themself, and develop appropriate learning strategies.
    • Develop their scientific curiosity and open-mindedness
    • Learn to use various resources made available to inform and train independently

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this unit, students will have developed four language skills in the field of scientific communication.

Content of UE

Listening and reading skills are reinforced, especially in the scientific field: B2 minimum level.
Productive skills are developed through:
Active participation in class, in the form of class discussions of reading and audio materials. 
Preparation and delivery of a scientific presentation in English ( Presentation techniques, pronunciation, signposting language)
Writing an abstract and a bibliography.
