Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
At the end of the course, students will be able to: (a) know the theories and debates on society-environment relationships in sociology, anthropology and philosophy; (b) apart from the technical aspects of transition issues, they will also be able to identify the power relations behind societal choices and the political means to face them; (c) they will be able to detect, in the political proposals linked to ecological issues, the ideological, theoretical and utopian aspects and the way in which they structure these political offers.
Content of UE
This course will allow students to: (a) know the ideological and theoretical foundations of current debates on ecological transition from a genealogical approach; (b) know and discuss the dominant approaches of current debates on ecological transition as well as their critiques; (c) know, locate and discuss new ecological social models from a theoretical, conceptual and practical point of view and consider alternative courses of action. The first part of the teaching will be given ex cathedra. The other two parts will consist of individual assignments and class presentations. The course will cover the following topics: technical illusions; quarrel within ecology; ecological awareness; approaches to transition; ecological transition; new socio-ecological models; the outlook from bottom up.
