Programme component

Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Adequately interpret situations experienced in the classroom and outside the classroom by mobilising knowledge in human sciences
  • Adapt to different school groups by mobilising knowledge in human sciences
  • Interact with the institution, colleagues and parents for effective partnerships
  • Master legal documents so as to practise the profession properly
  • Acquire a substantial amount of general culture to awaken student interest in the cultural world
  • Measure the ethical issues regarding everyday practice
  • Present information in a neutral and undirected way

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of the sessions, students will be able to:
- present the current organisation of secondary education (all networks combined) in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation,
- identify the main issues of the school system and take a critical look at the school institution, taking into account the historical elements relating to the education system on the one hand, and, on the other hand, the evolution of the societal context,
- identify the main objectives of the educational policies implemented for almost 30 years,
- identify the objectives of school evaluations (external certification and non-certification) through legislative reference texts,
- read and interpret statistical indicators relating to the school system,
- be, as a teacher, part of the educational system in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation,
- present the different facets of the teaching profession (i.e. professional identity, well-being of teachers, etc.),
- identify and clarify the areas of action and freedom enjoyed by teachers in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation,
- take a reflexive look at curricula,
- understand and put in practice during their future professional life the principles of neutrality according to the legal documents;
- examine issues of educational commitment according to human rights and the neutrality of education;
- illustrate and analyze some school situations questioning the neutrality of education.

Content of UE

The content of the instruction is related to rules applicable to the education, in terms of organization and neutrality (see W-DDIV-009 and P-SDHT-213).
