Content of Learning Activity
Notion of materials : Definition, history, classification ; Behaviour and properties ; General properties of the differents categories of materials. Structure of materials : the crystalline solids ; the amorphous and semi-crystalline solids ; the binary phase diagrams and relation with microstructures at equilibrium.
Study of material selection (Role of materials in design, Design procedure, Selection strategy, Cases of studies). Study of the life cycle of materials (Analysis of the life cycle of materials and sustainable development, Availability of mineral resources, Materials development processes, Recycling and notion of secondary raw material.
The teaching methods are likely to be adjusted according to the teaching context imposed by the health measures.
