      Content of Learning Activity

Scientific and technological know-how does not only invade our societies, but is a constitutive part of it. It is therefore crucial to develop a critical focus on the concrete intricacies between two areas - scientific / technological issues, on the one hand; societal issues, on the other - often treated separately. This course is mainly based on the methodological and theoretical approaches of Science and Technology Studies (STS) as developed over the last decades. It is intended to give students tools to think and act in a world where knowledge and techniques are in perpetual transition. In concrete terms, the course will introduce students to key STS authors and their respective particularities, such as Ludwik Fleck, Robert Merton, Bruno Latour, Michel Callon, Sheila Jasanoff, Sandra Harding, Donna Haraway, Andrew Pickering and others.
