Programme component

Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
    • Communicate easily and adequately, in both selected foreign languages, at a minimum level of B2 in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
  • Understand and integrate cultural similarities and differences (cultural and intercultural skills)
    • Demonstrate real knowledge of the cultures of the studied languages
    • Identify cultural differences and talk about them
    • Be familiar with codes and conventions of other cultures for the sake of interpersonal relationships
  • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
    • Use printed or electronic dictionaries and reference materials appropriately
    • Carry out, alone or in groups, activities or projects involving critical analysis
    • Communicate results or conclusions of these activities or projects in an appropriate manner
  • Conduct relevant research and report on it in a critical manner (cognitive skills)
    • Conduct targeted and reasoned documentary research in both the core language and the foreign languages studied

Learning Outcomes of UE

Upon completion of the course, students will have a good command of German at the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.Students will be able to : Students will be able to: - understand texts in which the writers adopt particular stances or viewpoints as well as contemporary fiction works; follow complex lines of argument provided the topic is reasonably familiar; understand current affairs programmes and films in standard dialect; - interact with native speakers; - produce clear, detailed texts on a wide range of familiar subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue.

Content of UE

Critical analysis of genuine audio-visual documents and varied texts. Oral and written exercises. Emphasis on interaction with native speakers and on intercultural skills (preparation for linguistic immersion during the 2nd term).
