Programme component

Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
    • Communicate easily and adequately, in both selected foreign languages, at a minimum level of B2 in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
  • Understand and integrate cultural similarities and differences (cultural and intercultural skills)
    • Demonstrate real knowledge of the cultures of the studied languages
    • Identify cultural differences and talk about them
    • Be familiar with codes and conventions of other cultures for the sake of interpersonal relationships
    • Develop knowledge in various fields, in particular those aimed at by translation activities
  • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
    • Use printed or electronic dictionaries and reference materials appropriately
    • Carry out, alone or in groups, activities or projects involving critical analysis
    • Communicate results or conclusions of these activities or projects in an appropriate manner

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this learning activity, students will be able to: 
- identify, put into perspective and describe important events (i.e., historical, geographical or socioeconomic) considered to be part of the culture of a native speaker; 
- carry out relevant research on these topics; 
- report on their research and findings. 

Content of UE

Students will become acquainted with the geographical, historical and socioeconomic context of the langue they are studying. They will have to do research and hand in personal assignments on questions related to these topics. Brief weekly press review. 

Prior Experience

A solid grounding in English language (European Framework of Reference for Languages B1+ or higher).
