Programme component

Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand, describe, analyse and prioritise biological phenomena
    • Understand and use different graphical representations of numerical values and their relationships
  • Control the molecular, morphological and functional approaches of normal and pathological conditions
    • Understand experimental protocols in the biomedical domain
    • Integrate concepts from different approaches/disciplines in a complex biomedical problem
  • Develop reasoning skills
    • Understand and apply the basic principles of reasoning (obtaining data, analysis, synthesis, comparison, the rule of three, syllogism, analogy, Boolean logic, etc.)
    • Understand the statistical and/or epidemiological methods
    • Work with efficiency / accuracy / precision
    • Present a hypothesis and hypothetical-deductive reasoning
    • Develop critical thinking, test and monitor conclusions understanding the domain of validity, and explore alternative hypotheses

Learning Outcomes of UE

To master the software and statistical tools necessary for the analysis of research data, in particular: 
- importing or encoding data
- data management and transformation
- data visualization

To present the results of these analyses clearly and rigorously in a scientific report in a reproducible manner. 

To be able to analyse data from research that is usual in practice.
 

Content of UE

The content of this EU is as follows: 
- Introduction to R software, RStudio 
- Introduction to the Markdown and R languages
- Data visualization (Histogram, density graph, violin graph, bar graph, scatterplot, boxplot)
- Data import and transformation

Have completed the following course :
Introduction aux statistiques biomédicales (UM-B2-BIOMED-015-M)
