Learning Outcomes of UE

Students will acquire the fundamental basis in immunology allowing to understand the normal function of the immune system. They will be familiar with notions of innate and adaptive immunity and will understand the peculiar role of different players involved in the process.  Skill in fundamental concepts in imunology will provide essential elements to study pathologies linked to the immune system (inflammation, autoimmune reactions, allograft rejection, allergies).

Content of UE

1) Introduction to immunology.
2) The players of the immune response.
3) Innate immune response.
4) Antigen capture and presentation to T lymphocytes.
5) The molecules of major histocompatibility complex.
6) Antigen recognition in the adaptive immune system- B and T lymphocyte antigen receptors.
7) Cell-mediated immune response.
8) Humoral immune response.
9) Immunologic tolerance.

Type of Assessment for UE in Q1

  • Written examination

Q1 UE Assessment Comments

AA in "Immunology" (M-DOYM-024) will be evaluated in Q1 by a written examination. The score obtained in UE will correspond to the score of the examination in AA. UE will be successful when the score obtained in AA will be superior or equal to 10/20. In case the examination will fail in Q1, the student will present once again in Q3.

Type of Assessment for UE in Q3

  • Written examination

Q3 UE Assessment Comments

AA in "Immunology" (M-DOYM-024) will be evaluated in Q3. The score obtained in UE will correspond to the score of the examination in AA. UE will be successful when the score obtained in AA will be superior or equal to 10/20.
