Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Use language as a tool of legal thinking to understand the concepts, techniques and terminology to express a rigorous legal thought
    • Use specific English language skills to open up other legal systems
    • Use Dutch for all sources of law specific to Belgium

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of the instruction, the students will be provided with the language tools necessary to
-         read and to understand legal documents;
-         use the specific terminology and apply it correctly in the legal context.

Content of UE

The course focuses on the extension of legal vocabulary.   Since it is held that a dry presentation of vocabulary on the subject matter would be of little practical use, each of the fields will be covered through the analysis of texts in written form.   The course requires active, regular participation in and preparation for each class.
