      Content of Learning Activity

      The course presents the basics theoretical aspects of database conception:
      - Entity-relation diagram, conceptual model, logic model and physical model
      - "Pure" query language: relational algebra, tuple relational calculus and domain relational calculus.
      - The SQL query language.
      - The normal form theory
      - Indexing mechanisms
      - Advanced functionalities (stored procedure, trigger, replication)
      - Introduction to Big Data and NoSQL systems

      Exercises allow the students to become familiar with the concepts presented during the course.
