Organisational online arrangements for the end of Q3 2020-2021 assessments (Covid-19)
      • Written exam (multiple choice, open questions)
Description of the modifications to the Q3 2020-2021 assessment procedures (Covid-19)
The exam (individual) will take place inside the Moodle environment at the date and time scheduled by the faculty.

You will register your answers inside the Moodle environment. For some questions, you could be asked to establish a written answer on a sheet of paper, produce a photographic image of your written proposal and then insert it together with your answer in Moodle.

      Content of Learning Activity

For successfully integrating an existing building or civil work inside his (her) work, the engineer should be able to assess effectively remaining structural capacities. This task will rely on advanced calculation considerations (analytical and/or numerical) based on data collected on the field. In Heritage preservation, two aspects mainly condition the problem : masonries and carpentries are made of "complicated" materials which can hardly be interrogated (initially or currently heterogeneous materials) and for which destructive tests should be avoided. Classical assessment problems and data-model articulation. Physical and mechanical characterization of ancient building materials : insight on methods developed by UMons & Partners. Numerical model for ancient masonries : macro- micro- and meso-modelling. Simplified analytical models for walls (columns) and vaults (arches) : static and kinematic approaches (Numerical and simplified analytical models for ancient carpentries and internal joints)
