Programme component

Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
    • Use French perfectly in a variety of non-technical situations, both orally and in writing
    • Communicate easily and adequately, in both selected foreign languages, at a minimum level of B2 in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
  • Understand and integrate cultural similarities and differences (cultural and intercultural skills)
    • Demonstrate real knowledge of the cultures of the studied languages
    • Identify cultural differences and talk about them
    • Develop knowledge in various fields, in particular those aimed at by translation activities
  • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
    • Use printed or electronic dictionaries and reference materials appropriately
    • Carry out, alone or in groups, activities or projects involving critical analysis
    • Communicate results or conclusions of these activities or projects in an appropriate manner
  • Conduct relevant research and report on it in a critical manner (cognitive skills)
    • Conduct targeted and reasoned documentary research in both the core language and the foreign languages studied
    • Assess the relevance and reliability of documentary sources used
    • Give a critique of the studied literature

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this programme component, students will be able to :- implement the basic principles of terminological work;- select and to use terminological tools;- manage the terminology necessary to a translation project.

Content of UE

Students will be introduced to the basic principles of terminology and lexicography. They will become acquainted with term banks and other terminological resources, in their foreign language in particular.Students will be given practical assignments in which they will be asked to create and manage terminological databases using computer tools.
