Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • In the field of chemistry, possess highly specialised and integrated knowledge and a wide range of skills adding to those covered in the Bachelor's programme in chemistry.
  • Help lead and complete a major development project, individually or in teams, related to chemistry.
    • Mobilise, articulate and promote the knowledge and skills acquired.
    • Demonstrate independence and their ability to work alone or in teams.
  • Communicate clearly in the scientific domain.
    • Communicate, both orally and in writing, their findings, original proposals, knowledge and underlying principles, in a clear, structured and justified manner.
    • Adapt their communication to a variety of audiences.
    • Where possible, communicate in English.
  • Develop and integrate a high degree of autonomy.
    • Pursue their education and gain additional knowledge and new skills.
  • Apply high quality scientific methodology.
    • Demonstrate thoroughness, independence, creativity, intellectual honesty, and ethical values.

Learning Outcomes of UE

- To know the fundamental principles of the ionization and analysis methods - To know the theoretical background of the collision-induced dissociation methods - To be able to link the molecular structure of a targeted analyte to the most suitable MS methods - To be able to identify an organic molecule starting from its electron ionization mass spectrum

Content of UE

-  Ionization methods : electron and chemical ionizations, electrospray and MALDI - Ion analysis methods : electric and magnetic sectors, quadrupole, ion trap, FT-ICR and orbitrap - Tandem mass spectrometry
