Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
At the end of this course , the students will be able to discuss the main kinetic systems (order I, II, variable, catalysed reactions ...). They will also master the collision and Eyring theories allowing them to discuss the kinetic mechanisms. In addition they will be able to understand the diffusion mechanismes based on the Fick's laws. Furthermore, they will understand the concepts of electrodes, batteries, and membrane potential and will master the Nernst law . Finally , they will be able to discuss the electrochemical kinetics thanks to the Butler- Volmer law.
Content of UE
Description of kinetic models applied to simple and complex chemical systems (orders 1, 2 , 3, homogeneous and enzymatic catalysis,...); chemical dynamics elements (collision and Eyring's theories), research of the kinetic mechanisms, reactions in solution (Fick's laws) ; static electrochemistry (electrodes, electrochemical chains, standard potential); electrochemical dynamics (ionic migration , electrochemical reactions speeds).
Prior Experience
Reactions in solution; kinetic theory of gases ; general thermodynamics ; general electricity
