Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the fundamentals
    • Understand the key areas of chemistry: inorganic, organic, physical, biological and analytical chemistry, as well as basic knowledge required in mathematics, biology and physics
    • Have developed the learning skills needed to undertake further studies with a sufficient degree of autonomy

Learning Outcomes of UE

Understanding the behavior of matter through an approach combining statistical and quantum mechanics.

Content of UE

Fermi-Dirac distributions of the black body radiation (Planck distribution, Stefan-Boltzmann law, applications) phonons and vibrations in crystals (Einstein and Debye models, relationships scattering for phonons in a chain of atoms, transparency effect) electron gas (models Drude and Sommerfeld, bands theory applications to the understanding of stars, Chandrasekhar limit) superconductors and superfluids (Bose -Einstein condensation)

Prior Experience

Thermodynamic, mathematic, classical and quantum mechanics, statistical physics
