Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand "elementary" mathematics profoundly
    • Understand one- and several-variable differential and integral calculus
    • Understand and use the naive set theory
    • Manipulate previously acquired knowledge that appears in a question
    • Give examples and counterexamples for definitions, properties, theorems, etc.
  • Understand and produce strict mathematical reasoning
    • Write clearly and concisely
    • Use mathematical vocabulary and formalism appropriately
    • Make sense of formal expressions
    • Rely on a picture to illustrate a concept, rationale, etc.
  • Collaborate on mathematical subjects
    • Present mathematical results orally and in a structured manner
    • Demonstrate independence and their ability to work in teams.
  • Solve new problems
    • Adapt an argument to a similar situation

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this teaching, the students will be able to manipulate quantifiers in formal arguments and make sense of quantified sentences in the context of mathematical analysis.  A real depth, both for argumentation and intuition, will be developed.

Content of UE

Basic analysis course (convergence, devivation, topology).  See the course comonents (AA) for details.

Type of Assessment for UE in Q2

  • Oral Examination
  • Written examination

Q2 UE Assessment Comments

To pass, both the written and oral exams must be successful.  In that case, the final mark is composed for 40% of the written exam and for 60% of the oral one.  Otherwise, the final mark is the minimum of the two scores.
