Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Implement an engineering approach dealing with a set problem taking into account technical, economic and environmental constraints
    • Identify and describe the problem to be solved and the functional need (of the project owner) to be met considering the state of technology
    • Design, evaluate and optimise solutions addressing the problem
    • Implement a chosen solution in the form of a drawing, a schema, a plan, a model, a prototype, software and/or digital model
    • Communicate the approach, results and prospects to a project owner or a board
    • Identify and acquire the information and skills needed to solve the problem
  • Understand the theoretical and methodological fundamentals in arts, science, engineering and construction to solve problems involving these disciplines
    • Identify, describe and explain the basic principles of engineering sciences and construction
  • Complete an architecture project, individually or as part of a team
    • Analyse and characterise complex problems in the field of architecture by adopting a scientific, heuristic, hermeneutic, systemic and transdisciplinary approach which integrates ethical, cultural, human, economic, technological and environmental contexts and issues
    • Ensure a project is tracked and documented according to its specifications
    • Respect deadlines and timescales
  • Collaborate, work in a team
    • Interact effectively with other students to carry out collaborative projects.
    • Identify and appropriately implement the different ways of working in a group
  • Communicate in a structured way - visually, orally and in writing, in French and English - giving clear, accurate, and reasoned information
    • Argue to and persuade a project owner, teachers and a board orally, with visual aids and in writing
    • Use several methods of written and graphic communication: text, tables, equations, sketches, maps, graphs, etc.
    • Give an effective oral presentation, using presentation materials appropriately
  • Demonstrate thoroughness and independence throughout their studies
    • Identify the different fields and participants in architectural engineering
    • Develop scientific and cultural curiosity and open-mindedness
    • Learn to use various resources made available to inform and train independently

I-ARCH-021Learning is achieved when:
- Based on existing examples presentations and critical analysis of them, chosen by the teacher
- Based on the design of software and graphic layout in the context of practical work.
The collection of examples are presented and ranked according to Moodle based learning elements:
- Presentation of Documents
- Drawing Documents
The graphical input is essential as part of the course, the examples are based on PowerPoint files (and a OpenSource version) that each constitute a coherent example to showcase the taught specific item. This document serves as referencing the student to read.
Note: A Pinterest page is populated from year to year with many examples based on course discussions.
