Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
At the end of the class, students will have acquired a comprehensive view of the various (past and current) theoretical trends in Anthropology as far as scientific methods are concerned. They will be apt questioning constructively the foundations as well as the validity of anthropological production, apt following the appropriate steps required by any investigation and apt choosing, amongst the range of available methodological tools, those which will be most appropriate for a good conduct of their research.
Finally, they will have a clear idea of methods and techniques most typically used in the discipline, particularly those related to interviews, thanks to a detailed presentation, illustrated with examples drawn from the teacher's personal research experiences.
Content of UE
The class shows how to proceed in order to produce anthropological knowledge which makes sense in the scientific world but also in the eyes of the natives; which respects the deontology of the profession (honesty, accurateness, advocacy) ; it insists on how to do the right choice amongst available methodologies, according to the research questions and objectives; how to appropriately follow the required steps from building a research proposal to getting the reader interested in the final paper and participating in broadening and improving the understanding one has of the social phenomenon and on their evolution.
Prior Experience
Have studied previiously the main theories and trends in Sociology and in Anthropology ; master the basic concepts of the disciplines.
