Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Instruct a question on architecture and urban planning
    • Develop teamwork
    • Consolidate their architectural and urban culture with a research approach
  • Develop an identified spatial response
    • Demonstrate innovation and creativity in constantly evolving situations
  • Interact with all actors
    • Adopt a professional attitude
    • Integrate and work in a team
    • Integrate actors' different expectations related to architecture, urban planning and spatial planning
    • Develop management and governance skills specific to architectural and urban processes
  • Make choices
    • Demonstrate reflexivity, openness and initiative
    • Demonstrate independence of thought and action.

Learning Outcomes of UE

- Awareness of digital architectural culture (the concept of digital continuum)
- Awareness, training and implementation of advanced modeling techniques
- Awareness, training and implementation of digital manufacturing techniques

Content of UE

- Introduction to new digital technologies applied to the design and architectural production.
- Presentation of methods, tools and digital devices able to support the design, production and upgrading of architectural space.
- Propose solutions (technical and methodological) to overcome the complexity of the new forms of architectural expression (non-standard architecture) and the new challenges of architectural design (performance optimization).
- Learning techniques of :
Parametric modeling (Grasshopper and Rhino)
3D Acquisition (Photogrammetry and laser scan)
Digital Manufacturing (laser cut, 3D printing).

Prior Experience

- A-ARTR-301 - Vector Representation of Architectural Drawaings
- A-CARC-004 - Means of digital expression (ArchiCAD-SketchUp)
- A-CARC-005 - Virtual reality (Artlantis-Lumion)
- Knowledge of advanced methods and tools for modeling, acquisition and digital manufacturing
- Sensitivity to new forms of architectural expressions.

Type of Assessment for UE in Q1

  • Presentation and/or works
  • Oral examination
  • Practical test
  • Graded tests
  • eTest

Q1 UE Assessment Comments

Attendance at the tutorials is mandatory with a check at the end of each session. These TDs result in a series of interim assessments (MCQ / TP rendering) as part of the final AA assessment. Absence from TP sessions and / or non-delivery of associated work is penalized with a zero rating. Only absences due to force majeure will be taken into account on the basis of valid proof to be given to the secretariat within 24 hours after the session concerned.
Other than these intermediate evaluations, the final evaluation will consist of the submission of a project / object modeling work (precision given at the beginning of the course) to be presented in the examination session. The final choice of weighting between the different evaluation methods will be specified at the beginning of the course (introductory course) and communicated via its Moodle page.

Q1 UE Resit Assessment Comments (BAB1)

The final choice between the various evaluation methods and their weighting will be specified at the beginning of the course (introductory course) and communicated via the Moodle page of the course.
