The understanding of the lectures is evaluated (pdf slides + commented slides + reference documents whose reading is requested ). It will be a written exam via Moodle with maybe some "open" questions. |
Content of Learning Activity
The lecture is devoted to the study of legal constraints and management techniques that can be applied to protected area in Europe and Belgium. The key themes discussed during the lectures are:
a) the main threats to biodiversity;
b) the legal framework that applies to nature conservation;
c) the theorical foundations dealing with nature conservation (island biogeography, metapopulations,..)
d) the main semi-natural area that can be found in Belgium
e) the main techniques that are used for the management of natural habitats
