Join examination with AA I-SDMA-021 - Propriétés et Structure des matériaux. Written examination including in a first time a MCQ test (duration 1h30) and in a second time a synchronous personal duty (1h). The MCQ test and the subject of the duty will be available on the Moodle Examens plateform in AA I-SDMA-021 - Propriétés et Structure des matériaux. The matter of the examination is the theory, exercises and practical labs of the two AA (I-SDMA-021 - Propriétés et Structure des matériaux and I-SDMA-022 - Choix des matériaux et Cycle de vie). The MCQ test will concern theory and exercises. The personal duty will be an exercise similar to those seen during the practical labs in selection of materials (AA I-SDMA-022 - ).

Notion of materials : Definition, history, classification ; Behaviour and properties ; General properties of the differents categories of materials. Cycle of life of materials : Natural resources ; Processing ; recycling. Materials selection : Role of materials in design ; Design procedure ; Selection strategy ; Cases of study. Material selection study (Role of materials in design, Design procedure, Selection strategy, Cases of study). Study of the life cycle of materials (Analysis of the life cycle of materials and sustainable development, Availability of mineral resources, Processes of materials development, Recycling and concept of secondary raw material).
