Organisational online arrangements for the end of Q3 2019-2020 assessments (Covid-19)
  • Oral exam (questions and answers, presentation of individual or group work, comment and argument about a written text...)
  • Production of individual or group work, essay, report, dissertation...
Description of the modifications to the Q3 2019-2020 online assessment procedures (Covid-19)
Mandatory activities are planned during the year.
Deliverables are requested during the second quarter, in particular to instruct the presentation of progress reports before the spring break. The evaluation is carried out by a jury (members of the mechanical engineering service, to which, as the case may be, in an advisory capacity, the manufacturers concerned) after presentation and oral defense of the project. The exam lasts about half an hour (fifteen minutes maximum presentation, about ten minutes discussion). Group work is presented in groups with an adapted schedule. A timetable will be communicated on Moodle in due course. The jury evaluated the file before the student's presentation and takes into consideration the attitude and skills of the student during the project. Each student submits a file no later than Wednesday May 27, 2020 at noon (unless otherwise posted in Moodle). This file to be placed on the ad hoc Moodle assignment includes, in pdf format only, the overall plans of the mechanical system designed, with the sections and sections necessary for the definition of the assemblies of the elements for which a complete nomenclature must be drawn up; these plans should not be listed, unless specifically requested; a list of plans is included in the appendix to the written report; a report containing the specifications, the state of the art, the justification of the technical choices made (selection and sizing of machine elements, ...) and any other specific relevant information. At the end of the presentation, the student will send, on their next visit to the mechanical engineering department or by post, a CD-ROM containing all of the SolidWorks files, the report and the presentation (plus all other useful documents: possible computer codes, catalogs of elements of machines or machines, bibliographical references ...). Interuniversity projects respond to the arrangements put in place by the partners.

Content of Learning Activity

This mechanical design project is an individual or collective exercise requiring the synthesis and application of drawing and CAD, manufacturing technology, and machine design. The specifications of the projects are original every year. Some lectures are organized in order to clarify the design methodology and the key role of drawing for design.
