Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Master specialist knowledge in the field of economic, political and social sciences in order to mobilise it on issues related to political, economic and social environments.
    • Master and appropriately mobilise highly specialised knowledge and methodological approaches within of economic, political and social sciences.
  • Analyse concrete political, social and economic issues in a multidisciplinary way, identifying future societal changes.
    • Mobilise highly specialised knowledge methods and tools in different fields of economic, political and social sciences.
    • Analyse a situation by critically selecting adapted methodological theories and approaches.
  • Develop innovative solutions/actions/policies/methodologies adapted to an institutional and social context of actors concerned in a process of change.
    • Develop and implement innovative economic and social policies and measure their potential impacts.
    • Innovate in the development of methodologies and tools for analysis and decision-making in economic, political and social sciences.
  • Implement a scientific approach in order to carry out detailed research on issues within the economic, social or political field.
    • Construct a reference framework, formulate questions or hypotheses from the analysis of scientific literature.
    • Collect data, analyse it qualitatively and quantitatively and adequately interpret the results, taking into account the reference framework within which the research was developed.
  • Be critical and have a general overview of the analysis of problems and implementation of actions in the economic, social and political fields.
    • Critically analyse the extent and limitations of actions implemented in the economic, social and political field.
  • Communicate, orally and in writing, in a structured and relevant way.
    • Present and structure data in a clear, precise, neutral, and non-oriented way.

Learning Outcomes of UE

After this course, the students will be able to : - represent and analyse a set of statistical data - control the bases of probability theory and statistical inference.

Content of UE

One-dimension descriptive statistics - Tables and diagrams of frequencies - Position and dispersion parameters. Two-dimensions descriptive statistics - Regression - Correlation. Probability theory - Random experiments and events - The different approaches of the concept of probability - Random variables, distribution of probability - Particular distributions - Mathematical expectation and variance - Independance of random variables - Some fundamental theorems. Statistical inference - Sampling, estimation - Tests theory.

Evaluation is based on a written examination (100%). Only in situations where a student has to take two exams at the same time, an oral examination could be envisaged.
